Obituary of Jane L. Glazier

Jane Lynda Glazier, 73, of Winthrop, Maine

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beautiful mom, wife, grandma, aunt, sister, Cousin, friend Jane Lynda Glazier on November 1st, 2024. Jane passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family after a complicated recovery from open heart surgery on August 30th, the day of her and her husband Francis's 55th wedding anniversary.

Jane was born at Maine General Hospital in Augusta Maine on January 30th, 1951,  to William “Bill” Farrell and Clara Rose Ellis. Jane was the eldest of eight children and was a loving and doting big sister to all of her siblings.  Jane attended Winthrop High School graduating in June 1969. That summer was a very exciting summer for Jane as she also started working as an office clerk for the state of Maine Bureau of Taxation that same month.  On August 30th, 1969 Jane went on to marry her High School sweetheart and love of her life, Francis Wheaton Glazier. Ten years into their marriage Jane and Fran were overjoyed to welcome  their daughter Jennifer “ Jenny”   into their world and 11 years later welcomed their son Francis”Frankie” into their family. Jane's children and her 3 grandchildren (Cody, Madison, and Izzy) were the absolute loves of her life.  Jane was a remarkable woman who was able to juggle motherhood and a career holding various positions and titles, from clerk to office manager, at the State of Maine in the Bureau of Taxation. Jane dedicated over four Decades of her life working for the State of Maine.

One of Jane's biggest passions in life was her love of music. Jane had a beautiful singing voice and a knack for entertaining a crowd.  Jane used her gift of music to start  her own business, J&F Musical Entertainment, Karaoke and DJ Services in 1995. Many of Jane's family members and dear friends would accompany Jane on her musical Adventures DJing weddings, parties, etc. Jane also frequently brought great joy to residents at local nursing homes with the sound of music when she and her large groups of family and friends would sing to all those who attended. Jane and her longtime best friend Donald Dinsmore recorded a CD titled “Welcome to our world of music" which she was extremely proud of. Jane was also a beautiful guitar player and shared her love of playing with her son Frankie and her grandchildren.

Jane was a person who loved to talk to everyone she would meet and because of her kind and gregarious nature she  would make friends out of complete strangers. Jane was even better at listening and giving advice to her family and her friends. Jane always offered a listening ear and a shoulder to cry on and had a way of making people feel loved and cared for. She was often the first person anyone would turn to when advice was needed or in times of need, Jane was always willing to help.   Jane would often have her children, grandchildren, and anybody who would come to visit sit on her back porch, one of her favorite places, as she was so proud of her flowers in the summertime and talking about her flower gardens. Jane cherished family gatherings and family dinners. Jane was an avid Bargain Hunter, loved yard sales, and enjoyed spending time at Hollywood slots and Oxford Casino. Jane would also enjoy taking trips to Boothbay Harbor and sitting on the piers with her husband Francis, enjoying Lobsters and clams, the wonderful things that Maine would offer.
