Obituary of Kermit L. Ring

Kermit L Ring December 31,1946 – September 18, 2024 - Kermit L Ring, 77 years of age, of Rockport, ME, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with lymphoma. Kermit’s beloved wife, Kris, of 38 years was by his side.

 

Kermit was born on December 31, 1946 to Donald and Norma (Burnes) Ring in Wichita, KS.  Kermit graduated from Wichita High School West in 1965 and Wichita State University in 1972 with a B.S. Degree in Business Administration.  Kermit was in the Army Reserves for one year during his freshman and sophomore years.

 

Kermit is survived by his loving wife of 38 years Kristine “Kris” (Baker) of Rockport, ME, originally from Swampscott, MA, his sister Judy Gustin of Dover, TN, his twin brother Kenneth and wife Chris, of Flat Rock, NC, his son Kermit Evan Ring of Chicago, IL, his daughter Kalin Martin of Ypsilanti,MI. Kermit loved his sister, brother, sister in law, son and daughter with all of his heart. Kermit is also remembered by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, other relatives and many friends. Kermit’s little schnauzers Jasper and Cookie gave him much love and comfort especially during his illness.

 

Kermit dedicated much of his life to his work within the Air Cargo industry which spanned over 47 years.   The majority of this time was spent working for Continental Airlines in various positions in Wichita, Denver, Los Angeles and Detroit. His best loved and memorable positions were Cargo Manager Miami and Cargo Sales Manager Dallas/Fort Worth for both Continental and then United Airlines.  Other companies that Kermit can be associated with are New York Air, Cargo Development Group (CDG), Challenge Air Cargo and Roadway Global Air (RGA).  Kermit was not only a respected and valued member of this community, but a person whose integrity and kindness left a lasting impact on all who knew him.

 

Kermit was a man of great faith and a true believer in the Lord Jesus Christ. Kermit was an active member of both Anchor Church, Rockport, ME and Life Church, Rockland, ME. Kermit received so much joy from the Life Church Weekly Men’s prayer group for fellowship and prayer.

 

After his retirement in 2018, Kermit enjoyed a peaceful life living close to the ocean, his friends and his church and taking many local trips within the beautiful State of Maine with his wife, Kris

 

Kermit’s legacy is that of love, warmth, generosity, honesty, kindness and friendship. Kermit was just a “Great Guy” God Bless you, Kermit — there will never be another like you

 

In celebration of Kermit’s life, a Memorial Service is being planned for Spring 2025, Anchor Church, Rockport, ME. Please email kermit.kris@sbcglobal.net and details will be provided closer to the time of the service.
