Donald Fournier Jr.

Obituary of Donald E. Fournier Jr.

WASHINGTON- Donald Earl Fournier, Jr., 54, passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at home surrounded by his wife and children after a long battle from complications of his cancer radiation treatments.

Born in Rockland, Maine, he was the son of Donald Earl Fournier, Sr. and Elizabeth Myers.

A homebody, Donald’s life revolved around his weekends with family, his love of sports, and most of all his favorite hobby, cutting trees "in the back 40" and splitting wood, preparing for the cold Maine winters. In his younger years, he enjoyed coaching his sons' basketball and baseball teams, and attending any and all sporting events for his children. Donald enjoyed cooking and grilling, trips to the Clark Island Quarry,  gardening/landscaping his property, watching the Patriots/Celtics/Nascar, hosting super bowl parties and his nascar Loudon trips. Most recently, he loved spending time with his wife Rebecca watching their favorite shows together, being a grandfather, watching reels on his phone and enjoying his favorite foods and treats.

Through the difficult times, navigating his health issues, he and Rebecca spent countless hours together and became closer than ever. Just by looking into each other's eyes they could give each other comfort and strength.

During his life, Donald worked most of his years as a chef at many local restaurants, spent time on the water as a sternman, and other jobs which included excavation,  landscaping and construction.  Donald was truly a jack of all trades.

He will be remembered for his strength, both mentally and physically, his carefree personality, and his desire to always say what was on his mind. He had a way of making everyone laugh. He was proud to be alcohol free for almost 3 years.

Donald was predeceased by his maternal grandparents Claude and Catheryn Mudgett, father Donald, and sister Lacey Fournier.

He is survived by his wife Rebecca Fournier of Washington, his son Donald Earl Fournier III and wife Caitlyn of Missouri, his daughter Brooke Tolman and husband Nate of Rockport, his son Colin Fournier of Washington; his granddaughter Ava Tolman; his mother Elizabeth Myers of Clark Island; his siblings Jessica Rietdyk and husband Harold of Augusta, Justin Fournier and wife Brenda of Clark Island, Millie Wright and husband Royce of Lincolnville, Cassie Healey and husband David of Tenants Harbor, Geoffrey (Budd) Fournier of Clark Island, and Asa Myers of Clark Island, many nieces and nephews and his mother and father-in-law Wanda and Larry Sukeforth of Jefferson.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
