Obituary of Sandra M. Holt

Sandra Marlene Holt, 85 of Madison, quietly slipped away at the moment of her choosing and not a second before, in the late morning of July 19th, 2024, at her family residence and the home that she grew up in, after a second and courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Skowhegan, the daughter of Shirley LeBreton and Maurice Bowring Sr. on April 19, 1939. Sandra was born and raised in Madison and received her education in the Madison school district. After marriage, brief travel, and adventure, she returned to Madison to raise her family and live out the rest of her beautiful days in her hometown.

Sandra was predeceased by her sister Sheila Bowring of Madison her husband Peter and 2 of their sons, her father Maurice Bowring of Madison, her stepfather Walter LeBreton of Madison, her beloved husband of 40 years Ralph Holt of Palmyra, her mother Shirley LeBreton of Madison and three of her sons Timothy Holt, Kevin Holt, and Stephen Holt all of Madison, as well as two of her grandsons Ralph Holt III and Zacharia Holt of Cornville.

She is survived by her sister Lauralee Currier of Norridgewock and family, 6 of her children, Eva Sargent (Mark) of Ohio, Ralph Holt Jr. (Diane) of Skowhegan, Cheryl Connelly of Madison, Brian Holt (Doreen) of Madison, Tamara Quimby (Thomas) of East Madison, Darrell Holt (Jill) of Madison, her cousin Joy Sirois of Madison, 21 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Sandra loved traveling, picnicking, and camping and she especially loved anything that involved spending time with her family. She loved trips to the casino with the lights and sounds and always looked forward to a chance to sit at her favorite machine. Sandra was a natural born caregiver and she loved to take care of children. One of her greatest life joys was helping to take care of many generations of her family and friends’ children. She was so very proud of the family that she built and was their biggest cheerleader and supporter, following all the stories and sharing them with pride no matter how far they each traveled in life.

A woman of grace and poise with a sweet and quiet demeanor, she loved to laugh, and you would often catch her snickering at a joke made by one of her family members or belly-laughing in the kitchen with her children. Sandra will be lovingly remembered and achingly missed by all who loved her and all whose lives she has touched.

A private family graveside memorial service will be held for Sandra at Forest Hill Cemetery in Madison within the upcoming weeks. Online condolences may be offered at www.directcremationofmaine.com
