Obituary of Harold Joseph Beland Jr.
Harold Joseph Beland Jr., known best as Harry, passed away surrounded by his family on July
6, 2024, in Oakland, Maine. Born on November 22, 1960, in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, Harry
was a beloved figure known for his vibrant spirit & generous heart. He left a mark on many
everywhere he went. His laugh was one of a kind & his personality was treasured. He loved
loudly, lived quietly, played hard, worked hard & had a soul of gold. His presence is surely
something that will forever be missed.
Harry dedicated over 40 years to a distinguished career that allowed him to explore the country
extensively, bringing him great joy & fulfillment as a truck driver. He began his career with
Mayflower Trucking and concluded his professional journey with Schneider National Trucking,
from which he retired.
Beyond his professional life, Harry was an avid enthusiast of various hobbies. He was a skilled
poker player & enjoyed spending time at casinos, particularly playing slots. His love of bowling &
billiards provided him with many hours of enjoyment, & he was also a passionate fan of country
music, which often served as a soothing backdrop to his leisure activities.
Harry has shared 28 years alongside his devoted wife, Sherry, he was a loving father to his
children, James, Jesse, Jason,Tammy & Jessica. A proud grandfather to Jason, Brittney,
Jasmine, Faith & Cameron & great-grandfather to Mariana. A brother to David, Tommy, Jimmy,
Elaine, Wayne & Nancy & son to Harold Beland Sr. & Mabel Whitaker Beland.
A Celebration of Life will be held on August 10, 2024, at the Fairfield Community Center in
Fairfield, Maine, where family, friends & acquaintances will gather to honor Harry's memory &
legacy.
In keeping up with Harry's lifelong commitment to helping others, in lieu of flowers, contributions
may be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital & the Wounded Warriors Project, two charities he
deeply supported & contributed to. These donations will continue Harry's legacy of kindness &
support for meaningful causes. Memories and condolences may be shared on his tribute wall.
