Obituary of Myrle N. Crockett

Hermon and Bar Harbor - Myrle (Norwood) Crockett, a proud lifelong resident of Bar Harbor, wife of the late Leslie Crockett, died peacefully on May 18th 2024, surrounded by loved ones, at the home of her grandson, Shaun Crockett, and his partner Kevin Koski in Hermon, following a brief period of declining health.  Myrle was born in Bar Harbor on May 30, 1936, to Lloyd Norwood and Janet Farnsworth. She graduated from Bar Harbor High School in 1955 and was thereafter married to Leslie.  Myrle and Les ultimately settled at her family’s homestead on Eagle Lake Road where, for many years, they operated a roadside farm stand. They were also avid participants in the Eagle’s Club and The Hayseeder’s Ball and loved dancing the night away together.  In her later years, Myrle enjoyed tending her many plants, feeding the wildlife that visited her little island yard, knitting, and most dear to her heart, spending time with her great-grandchildren. Myrle was best known for sharing her endless supply of love, compassion and kindness everywhere she went.

Myrle and Leslie raised three sons, Wayne, James (Jimmy), and David, and their grandson Shaun.  In addition to her parents and Leslie, Myrle was predeceased by her son Jimmy, brothers Lloyd, Robert (Bob) and Harvey Norwood, as well as sisters Elsie and Rosalie.  She is survived by her son Wayne and his sons Scott (wife Amanda) and Brian, son David and his partner Muriel, beloved daughter-in-law Joy Camire Crockett, grandson Shaun and his partner Kevin Koski and Shaun’s daughter Annabelle, granddaughter Kayla and her children Tyler, Cameron and Ariel, sister Maybelle Montgomery, sister Janett Muise and her husband Sherwood, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, and her dearest friend Tina Gott.

A celebration of Myrle’s life will be announced this summer and held in Bar Harbor.  Myrle will be interred next to Leslie and Jimmy at the family plot in the Town Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Myrle’s memory to The Bar Harbor Crockett Land Trust, sent to 42 Wheeler Rd. Hermon ME 04401. Funds will assist with the upkeep and preservation of the land trust on Eagle Lake Road.
