My earliest memory of Uncle Billy was when I was probably 3 or 4 years old. He used to like to go rabbit hunting out near an old hunting camp my grandfather had. My memory is of him carrying me into the woods with him in an old pack basket and sitting me down on the ground by a tree. He went off and got his rabbits and then carried me back out. A few weeks later I had a brand new rabbit fur hat and muff that he had made me. I remember wearing them to church and loving the feel of the soft, white rabbit fur. To me it seemed that there was nothing that he couldn’t do. I felt that way about him my whole life. ❤️

From one of my earliest memories of fishing with Billy to my most recent. I never would have found the joy, pleasure, and satisfaction of catching fish on rods and flies crafted by my own hand if not for his guidance and inspiration. I still can’t cast worth a damn because I learned from a lefty! But most of all I enjoy the memories and stories that always came from spending time with Uncle Bill.

I met Bill on Quiggle Brook many years ago. We were both fishing. I had my youngest son with me. Bill invited us uo to his house so we could fish behind his house. It was the beginning of a perfect friendship that included lots of fishing, lots of eating fish, and lots of fish stories. He taught me how to tie flies and we did it together at his home for many years. I now have my own fly shop at my home and his photo sits proudly on a shelf. He will always be just a glance away..I loved him...He was the best!
