Dean was very special to three generations of our family. After he lived in our house in Camden, I asked him to sing Gordon Bok's "Turning Toward the Morning" at my Dad's Memorial service. It was beautiful.
My daughter, Caitlin, came to know Dean when he lived at Ragged Meadow (our house in Camden). Fifteen years later, she asked Dean to sing "Lord of the Dance" at her wedding, held at the Children's Chapel in Camden. I will never forget the wedding party dancing through the gardens as Dean's voice boomed.
When I was first dating my wife, Dean joined us for a hike up Bald or Ragged Mountain on a gray, snowy winter day. As we climbed, he began to sing Schubert's Die Winterriese. It was magical. I think Susan decided then that I must be alright if I knew someone as talented and extraordinary as Dean.
