Obituary of Lloyd Francis Cutting

Lloyd Francis Cutting, 86, passed peacefully on Sunday morning October 29, 2023 at home under the care of Beacon Hospice and his family. He was born on February 1, 1937 in Derby, CT and was the son of the late Lloyd P. Cutting and his wife Grace. He was predeceased by his sister, Joan Markiewicz.

Lloyd attended Waterville High School and went on to enlist in the Navy but was honorably discharged for medical reasons. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in English and later his teaching certification. He had several interesting jobs in his lifetime, but the most rewarding was his time as a teacher at
Waterville Junior High School. His students still tell stories and ask about him to this day.

Lloyd was an accomplished pianist, who played professionally and donated his time and talents to many local, aspiring musicians as a teacher and accompanist. He was also an artist, whose works were once displayed in the Massachusetts House Gallery in Lincolnville, ME. Lloyd painted many portraits over the years that now adorn the walls of those who are fortunate enough to have them.

Lloyd had a passion for photography and loved to share his photos. He would spend hours traveling and taking pictures at his grandchildren’s sporting events and dance recitals. He was known to surprise other parents and grandparents with photos of their loved ones, knowing that it would bring them as much happiness as it brought him. He eventually turned this passion into an opportunity to teach night classes in photography in both Winthrop and Turner, ME.

He was a man blessed with numerous talents, who touched many lives. Those who knew him will remember him as a kind man, who found pleasure in music, art and the opportunity to share his knowledge with the people he loved.

Lloyd is survived by his wife, Darlene Leighton-Cutting. Together they resided in Winthrop, ME, where he was surrounded by a group of loving, supportive friends.

Lloyd was predeceased by his wife Lana Cutting. He is survived by their daughter Jodi Cutting and her children Ryan Rodrigue, Sidney Rodrigue, and Ally Rodrigue. Of all the things he loved, nothing brought him more joy than being a grandfather. And, when he spoke of his grandchildren, he would beam with
pride.

He is also survived by his stepdaughter Shannon Robbins her husband Jim Robbins and their children Noah Robbins, Mary Robbins, Erin Robbins, Adelle Robbins, and Julia Robbins. His stepdaughter Stephanie McArthur her husband Todd McArthur and their children Collin McArthur, Evan McArthur and
Elise McArthur.

A celebration of Lloyd’s life will be held on Friday, November 10th, 2023, at the Augusta Elks Lodge in Augusta, ME from 1:00-4:00.
