My only American niece, dearest Victoria,
I will certainly miss you and you will always be in my memories. I was grateful to have shared some time last summer together. I will never forget our family gatherings, your love of chickens, your beautiful smile, and and your will to enjoy every situation. I would have braided your hair every day my dear.
I will also remember the time we spend with you during the Christmas of 2010 in Texas. I still laugh when I remember that Greg offered you and Sila five dollars to pose in front of an alligator. Your daring laughter and bravery was not forgettable. You will always be that fun loving active young person in my mind.
You brought so much love to your mom, dad and those around you. It was a privilege to know you and to learn from you. There is saying in this part of the world (although maybe there as well) that God takes the ones he loves first. You loved and were loved dearly. Take care of Grammy and keep laughing together until we meet up there again.
Your Turkish Aunt,
Bilge

You always said we’d miss you, Victoria…and we do!!! What we didn’t realize is how much you taught us about happiness & love and enjoying life! Thank you for being a wonderful friend who brought so much laughter & joy into our lives when we were with you….from loving Birdie & Bear, to celebrating your 21st slurping down Scott’s margaritas at our house, to helping with Xmas lights, to just “hanging out” on the couch, to video calls TX-ME… you always knew you were welcome here & we loved your presence!! We love you & we will always miss you. MJ, Helen & Scott

Victoria was about 15 years and showing a talent for interior decorating: she helped Nana Sharon choose the blue/brown colors for Nana's home and a new decorating theme. Victoria was excited to be taking an active part in helping Nana. Victoria's ideas were impressive and fresh.

Remembering Victoria when she was about five years old: her dad, great uncle Bill and great aunt Becky played tea time with her in the Methodist Church garden across the street from Nana Sharon's home. A beautiful sunny day with no hint of the Huntington's Disease that would begin to steal facets of the darling little girl's, Victoria's, life.

Q: How would you describe Victoria to someone who had never met them?
A: Victoria was full of life and energy. She lit up a room with her presence. She loved the arts and entertaining. I think she got that from her mother. From the time Victoria was three we attended her social birthday parties. Always a huge crowd and at a fun place. Visiting the Mekras’ home we could always count on our kids having fun and starring in a play directed by Victoria. We can never forgot her high school graduation, her beautiful smile, and the joy she brought Greg and Valerie. Until we meet again may you rest in peace sweet Angel.

Beautiful Victoria will live on in so many hearts, including mine.
Her soul now dances in Heaven.
And her earthly light will always remain...
