Obituary of Michael Richard Palmer
Michael Richard Hurd Palmer, 62, of Fairfield, passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2023 after a brief period of failing health.
Michael was born August 15, 1960 in Concord, NH. He spent his childhood in the capital area and spent much of his adult life traveling around the country and supporting himself with a relentless work ethic. When it became time to pick a spot, he purchased a home in Fairfield, Maine and planted a flag. Michael had both a tremendous sense of humor and an intense desire for privacy.
Michael is survived by his huge blended family, sons, Michael Marston and Mark Marston; his daughter Rebecca MacAuley and her husband Ross; father and step-mother, Neil and Beverly Hurd of Bow; his mother, Judy Palmer of Loretto TN; his brothers and sisters, Robert Ayer and his girlfriend Laura of Loudon, Christopher Ayer and his wife Ellen of Concord, Erin Smith and her husband Jason of Canterbury, Megan Shaffer and her husband Gary of Hampstead NC, Ryan Hurd and his girlfriend Tessa of Bow, Scott Hurd and his wife Christine of Washington, Sharon Howe of Bostic NC. He is also survived by several grandchildren and an outrageous number of nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brothers Kevin Ayer of Smithfield VA and Brian Ayer of Loudon NH.
Out of respect for the way Michael chose to live his life, the family will be gathering for a small, private celebration of his life Sunday April 19th and will spread his ashes later in the Spring in Maine by the river where he enjoyed his morning coffee.
