Obituary of Richard Clement Cook
RICHARD (DICK) CLEMENT COOK
BANGOR - Richard C. Cook, 92, died March 21, 2023 at Winterberry Heights in Bangor. He was born March 11, 1931 in Bangor, Maine, the son of Marjorie Josephine Clement and Lionel Lester Cook, both of Bangor, Maine.
Dick graduated from Bangor High School, Class of 1949 and obtained a business degree at Boston College. He held various positions throughout his working career and eventually retired from his own Real Estate and Insurance business of many years. Dick was an Air Force Veteran, serving as a Jet Plane Mechanic. His many interests included flying, sailing, hunting, tinkering on household projects, reading and visiting with his family and friends. Dick had retired to his peaceful lakeside home at Green Lake, for many years along with his long-term partner, Arline Pomeroy - prior to moving into Winterberry Heights in 2019.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter Sunshine (Cindy) Crate-Batchelder and Survived by daughter Ilana McCarthy, her son Ryan, her husband Dan and his children Tara and Jenna; Dick’s son David Cook, his wife Tammy Crosby and David’s children Chelsea, Miranda and Sarah; Sunshine’s children Gabriel, Joshua and Nikayla; as well as many beloved great grandchildren.
According to Dick’s wishes, no formal funeral services will be arranged; however, the family will attend a graveside burial at the Augusta Military Cemetery on a date TBD. Memories and condolences may be shared on his tribute wall.
