Jane Kramer

Obituary of Jane Marie Kramer

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Jane Kramer. She was 72 and a resident of North Berwick Pinnacle Nursing Home. Jane died from natural causes on March 9, 2023.

Jane was born in Houlton Maine on February 3, 1951, to George and Gertrude Manuel. She was the youngest of 5 children and the only girl. Jane’s brothers Albert, Robert and Frederick were already grown and married by the time she came along. Sadly, her youngest brother Gary died shortly after birth.

Jane grew up in Maine where she graduated from Robert W. Traip Academy in 1970. After graduating, she was active in the USO, where she met Ken Kramer. Jane married Ken in 1970 and had 3 children, Cathy, Lisa and Maggy. Ken was in and out of Jane’s life for the next 15 years. He passed away in 1997 while they were separated. Jane finished raising their children on her own while she worked various retail jobs to support her family. She even went back to school to earn an associate degree in Human Resources. Unfortunately, the economy fell, and her degree became worthless. Jane continued to work in retail until she became disabled. Jane’s health continued to deteriorate, and she relied on her children to care for her. Eventually, Jane had to move into a nursing home for round-the-clock care. She passed away at the nursing home surrounded by her children and grandchildren.

Jane is survived by her 3 daughters, 5 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was such a beautiful, intelligent, and compassionate human being. Jane was mother to all that needed her, whether they were family or stray children that needed a mother figure. To all she was known as “MA”. Jane will be greatly missed.

A small Celebration of Life for Jane will be held at Christian Life Church on May 20, 2023, at 10 am. Light refreshments will be served after. Please RSVP with Cathy, Lisa, or Maggy by April 10th. Christian Life Church is located at 775 Harrold L. Dow, Hwy, Eliot, Maine 03903.

In lieu of sending flowers, please donate to a local Dementia or Diabetes Foundation in Jane’s memory.
