Obituary of Christopher James Haskell
Christopher James Haskell, 66, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick, Maine. He was born in Bangor, Maine on April 26, 1955, a son of Stuart and Gloria (Coffin) Haskell.
Chris graduated from Bangor High School in 1973 and enlisted in the Air Force that same year as a security specialist where he trained police dogs at the Pease Air Force Base until discharged in January of 1975. He also attended the University of Maine at Machias in 1975
through 1977 where he was a member of the Kappa Delta Phi Fraternity.
Chris was self-employed as a drain clearing service specialist for many years in Saco, Maine. He was also employed at the Hannaford Bros. in Scarborough both the Corporate Office and the Seafood Department.
Christopher was a prolific reader of nonfiction history and sports literature and had an extensive library. He was an avid Red Sox, Bruins, Patriots fan and of University of Maine hockey and football. He also enjoyed listening to all types of music.
Chris enjoyed bird watching and feeding birds at home and at the Haskell family camp at Silver Lake in Lee, Maine. He enjoyed swimming, fishing, hunting, and boating.
Chris was a poet and one of his collections was selected to be published in the Portland Press Herald of Portland. Maine which featured Chris' love of Maine and nature.
Christopher was predeceased by his mother, Gloria Haskell. He is survived by his father, Stuart Haskell of Stillwater, Maine, his partner of 42 years Colette Lapierre of Lincoln, Maine, his son Christopher Haskell II and daughter Anna McCrea, both of Hollis, Maine and son Mathew Haskell of Blue Hill, Maine, two grandsons Kaelab and Jacob Haskell, and a granddaughter Jade Pettengill and great granddaughter Harmony Kenney of Lincoln, Maine, three sisters; Catherine Haskell of Mount Dora, Florida, Caren Ford and her husband Chris of Stillwater, Maine and Carol Wertz and her husband Lloyd of Londonderry, NH.
During his fight with cancer, he benefited from nutrient-rich food provided to cancer patients by the Christine B Foundation (Eastern Maine Cancer Support). Donations in memory of Chris may be made to that foundation to continue their valuable support to the community.
