Warren – Joan M. Day, 88, of Warren, passed away peacefully Sunday April 12, 2020 at the Sussman House in Rockport, Maine. Born March 7, 1932 in Rockland, Maine, she was the daughter of the late Francis (Mac) Boynton Maxcy and Helen Starrett Maxcy. Joan grew up in Warren, Maine and was a graduate of Warren High School and later received an Associate Degree from Westbrook Junior College, Westbrook, Maine. On September 14, 1958, Joan married Edric (Dick) R. Day from Union, Maine and enjoyed 61 years of marriage. Joan worked as a Bookkeeper/Secretary at Butler Maxcy and Heath, in which her father was part owner. Later she worked as a Teachers Aid for many years throughout the SAD 40 District. Joan was a dedicated “Barn Kid Mom” at Hill-N-Dale Stables and supported her daughter Cathy through many years of competitive horse shows while traveling throughout Maine and out of state. She also loved the many dogs in her life as if they were also her children. Joan participated in many of the Couples Club Variety Shows at The Second Congregational Church of Warren. Joan is survived by her husband, Edric (Dick) R. Day, her daughter Cathy S. Clough of Warren, and her beloved canine companion, Wendy. The family of Joan would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Anderson, all the caring nurses and staff at the Sussman House for their comforting and excellent care during her stay. Also, a huge thank you for all the help and support from close family friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joan’s memory to Pope Memorial Humane Society, P.O. Box 1294, Rockland ME 04841. A private burial will be at the Fairview Cemetery in Warren at a later date.
