Obituary of Helen Richardson Clary

HELEN RICHARDSON CLARY, age 94, a former resident of Peterborough, died on September 9, 2009, at Harbor Hill in Belfast, Maine. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on February 12, 1915, she was the daughter of Edwin M. Robinson and Amanda E. Robinson. She graduated from Girls Latin School in Boston and Boston University. She taught commercial subjects at Peterborough High School and later worked at the Peterborough Town Library. Helen was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with family. She was an active member of the Union Congregational Church and a volunteer for the Peterborough Historical Society, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, and other community activities. She was predeceased in 1969 by her first husband, Clarence O. Richardson, and in 1993 by her second husband, Willard B. Clary. She was also predeceased by her parents and by a brother, Wallace Robinson. She is survived by her son, Thomas Richardson, and his wife, Margaret Zedan, of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin; her daughter, Edith Richardson and her husband, Marc Berlin, of Winterport, Maine; two stepsons, Edward Clary and his wife, Audrey, of West Boylston, Massachusetts, and John Clary and his wife, Geneva, of Shelby, Ohio, and their children and grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Edwin M. Robinson, Jr., and his wife, Wanda, of Washington Township, New Jersey, and his children and grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at the UNION CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH, 33 Concord Street, Peterborough, New Hampshire, on Saturday, September 26, 2009, at 9:30 a.m., with Rev. Polly Shamy officiating. A reception for family and friends will follow the service.
