Obituary of Brian P. Sturtevant

Brian P. Sturtevant, 62, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2010, surrounded by his devoted family, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born in Waterville, Maine on November 18, 1947, son of Robert and Nancy (Karter) Sturtevant. He married Janice Seamans on December 17, 1971 in North Vassalboro, Maine. Brian graduated from Waterville High School, Class of 1966. He also attended the University of Maine, where he received his Real Estate Broker’s license. Brian worked at CF Hathaway Shirt Company for 25 years, where he worked his way from shipping clerk to Director of Distribution & Dior Accessories. Brian managed several area convenience stores, plus owned and operated Village Video & Pizza in China Village. He also worked in Real Estate for several years in the Central Maine area and was a Notary Public. Brian served in the Army National Guard for several years. He was a communicant of St. Joseph Maronite Catholic Church, a member of the Lebanon Youth Society, the Sportsman Alliance of Maine, the American Legion in China Village, and the National Rifle Association. Brian was an avid sportsman, enjoying golf, hunting and fishing, especially his annual fishing trips to Chesuncook and Rangeley Lakes with his brothers and friends. He was an avid coin, stamp and gun collector. He loved family get-togethers, especially spending time with his granddaughters, Taylor and Rachel. Brian will be greatly missed by his devoted wife Janice of 38 years; his daughter Karen of Lawrence, MA, his son Derrick and his daughters, Taylor and Rachel and their Mother Shelia, of Savannah, GA. His brothers Robert and his wife Dale of Oakland, Patrick and his wife Sandra of Greenbush, his sister Karla and her fiancée Jack Lord of South China, his sister-in-law Ellen Romanowski and her husband Walter of Winslow, his brother-in-law Richard Seamans and his wife Patty of Chester, CT. Several nieces and nephews, cousins, and a beloved Uncle, John M. Joseph of Waterville. Close friends Jim & Ginny Allen of Winslow and many other devoted friends. Brian was pre-deceased by his parents, Bob and Nancy Sturtevant. Brian’s family would like to give special thanks to the dedicated Doctors and nurses at the Alfond Cancer Center, Maine General Medical Center, and Health Reach Home Care & Hospice. At the request of the family, there will be no visiting hours. Funeral services will take place at the St. Joseph’s Maronite Church at 3 Appleton Street, Waterville, Maine on Saturday, March 20th at 11:00 a.m. In Lieu of flowers, friends and family wishing to make donations in Brian’s memory may contribute to the Muskie Community Center at 38 Gold Street, Waterville, ME 04901. Burial will be at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Waterville at a later date.
