Obituary of Nelson Frank Stevens

NELSON FRANK STEVENS, 53, entered into rest Saturday, April 3, 2010. He was born in Hope, Maine on July 9, 1956, the son of Herman and Audrey (Meservey) Stevens. Nelson married the love of his life, Debbie, on December 30, 1976. They shared 33 years together. Some of their most happy times were spent camping in the north woods. As a young man, Nelson joined Liberty Masonic Lodge #111. He served in the National Guard for 13 years. He worked as a ship fitter at Bath Iron Works for more than 30 years. Nelson enjoyed hunting, fishing and four-wheeling and was instrumental in the development of Friends & Neighbors Four-wheeling Club in Liberty. He is predeceased by his natural parents; his brother David; sister Betty; mother-in-law Hazel and niece Heidi. Nelson is survived by his wife, Debbie; brother Earl Stevens and wife Christine; sister Twila Damon and husband Crosby; special parents Richard and Doris Palmer; brothers, Charlie, Steven and Sandy Palmer and Wesley Phillips; sister-in-law Rowena Marr and husband Harold; nieces and nephews Lori, Dot, Brenda, Katrina, Dawn, Danniela, Wesley, Lori, Leonard, Tonya, and Moxi; many special friends, co-workers and neighbors too numerous to name. Nelson was a big kid at heart and will be remembered for his smile, laughter and willingness to lend a helping hand. He will be greatly missed by one and all. "May you only hear the rustling of a big buck or moose, the call of a turkey, the crackling of a campfire, and the rumble of your rhino four-wheeler as you rush along the trail and the words I love you." Memorial service will be held Friday, April 9th 2 p.m. at Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast with reception to follow at Liberty Masonic Lodge.
