Obituary of Harold A. Whitney
HAROLD A. WHITNEY, 77, passed away October 29, 2010 at his residence in Ashland. He was born in Belfast on November 25, 1932, the son of Roy and Louise E. (Jacobs) Whitney. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany during the Korean War. He was a member of Faith Temple Church of God in Belfast where he served on the Bus Ministry and the Washburn Pentecostal Church where he was a board member and leader of Royal Rangers. Harold always served faithfully in his church. He loved to hunt, fish and spend time with his family. Recently he and his wife were able to take his dream fishing trip to Alaska.
He was predeceased by his parents; a sister Althea Thompson; a half-brother and half-sister and great-granddaughter, Savannah Marie Whitney. Survivors include his devoted wife of 49 years, Virginia (Bryant) Whitney of Ashland; his children Howard Whitney and wife Evelyn of Belmont, Karen Philbrook and husband Kurt of Ashland, Paul Whitney and wife Regina of Watertown, NY; 11 grandchildren, Bethany, Any, Marrisa, Kathleen, Brian, Amber, Stephen, Ben, Tamara, Christopher and Caleb; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews as well as extended church family.
Family and friends are invited to call from 6-8 p.m. Monday, November 1st at Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will follow at Smart Cemetery. On-line condolences may be offered to the family at www.ripostafh.com.
