Obituary of Edwina M. Pelkey
EDWINA M. (ST. AMAND) PELKEY, 75, passed away December 3, 2010 in Houlton following a brief battle with cancer. She was a resident of Limestone since 1952 when she married Patrick J. Pelkey Sr. She was a wonderful mother, mother-in-law and grandmother. She was born in St. Leonard, New Brunswick, Canada. Edwina enjoyed playing cards, crocheting and Bingo. She was also a member of The Daughters of St. Anne.
She was predeceased by her loving and devoted husband Patrick J. Pelkey Sr. in 1991; her parents Onezime and Alice (Parent) St. Amand; sisters, Constance Levesque, Mary Mae St. Amand; brothers Omar, Ronald and Phillip St. Amand. Survivors include her seven children, Linda Gideons of Louisville, Kentucky; Mrs. Todd (Irene) Ellis of Ft. Fairfield, Maine, Arthur Pelkey and Sharon of Albany, Georgia, Patrick J. Pelkey Jr. and Annette of Presque Isle, Maine, Rick Pelkey and Diana of Caribou, Ronnie Pelkey of Presque Isle and Rodney Pelkey and Chris of Chelmsford, Massachusetts. She also has 15 grandchildren, Ben, Patrick, Rick, Sharon, Rob, Nick, Aimee, Jeff, Daniel, Candi, Scott, Nicholas, Michelle, Ryan and Keith; 16 great-grandchildren, Tyler, Nicholas, Leah, Evan, Jay, Miles, Max, Christian, Gavin, Joseph, Trevor, Colton, Addison, Taven, Dylan, Tori; three brothers, Leonard, Paul and Gilbert St. Amand of Canada; many nieces, nephews and a very special friend, Bea Butler of Limestone.
Edwina chose not to have funeral services, but there will be a memorial mass at 1 p.m. Thursday, December 9, 2010 at St. Denis Catholic Church, Ft. Fairfield. A graveside service will be held in July when all her children can be present. In lieu of flowers you may donate in her memory to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements under the care of Direct Cremation of Maine, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast.
