Obituary of Norman Niles
NORMAN “BUD” NILES, 88 of Windsor, died February 7, 2011 at Togus after a long illness. He was born January 25, 1923 in Augusta. He attended Cony High School before enlisting in the US Navy serving in the South Pacific. He married the love of his life “Marie” on February 7, 1944 in Seattle, Washington. They lived in Port Orchard, Bremington, Seattle area for 15 years before residing in Maine for the past 50 years. Bud worked for local businesses like Augusta Treatment Plant, Lipman Poultry, Kirschner’s Processing Plant, Corbett Farms and part-time as a meat cutter for his cousin, Fred Larrabee, before retiring in 1982. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his best friend, Skip Hart. Bud was the last of seven children born to Mary and Walter Niles Sr.
He is survived by seven children and their spouses, David Niles of Toole, TX, Candace Thorndike of Winthrop, Debbie Lugo of Nashua, New Hampshire, Kimber Niles of Whitefield, Shane Niles of Whitefield, Shawn Niles of Augusta and Heidi Roy of Bradford, MA as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is predeceased in 2010 by a daughter, Cassandra Niles.
A memorial stone bill be placed at the Veterans Cemetery alongside his brothers, Walter, Stanley, Donald, Kenneth. At Norman’s request, there will be no services.
