Obituary of David Grant Pendergast

David Grant Pendergast, 82, of Searsport, died on April 16th, 2011, in his Searsport home. Mr. Pendergast was born February 5, 1929, in Belfast, Maine, to Ora and Doris (Smith) Pendergast. At the age of 12, he began working as a truck driver. Mr. Pendergast served several years in the United Stated Navy as a Shipfitter First Class and later on in life was employed by the United States Postal Service. He loved to laugh, eat, work on cars and remodel his home. Most of all Mr. Pendergast had a profound love for his dogs and leaves Charlotte and Maxi behind. He is survived by his son, David Howard Pendergast of Virginia and his spouse Lorena; daughter Kathy Canning of Searsport and her spouse Tim; several grandchildren Melissa, Monica, Kristi, and Joshua. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Pendergast. To some he was known as “big Dave” and the flower of the Pendergast family. Most importantly, he was known as dad and grandpa.
