Obituary of Frank L. Clark

FRANK L. CLARK SR., 88, died peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on May 12, 2011 in Belfast. He was born in Lubec on November 30, 1922, the son of George and Zelma (Cook) Clark. He was a member of the First Church in Belfast. Frank served with the 111th Airborne during World War II as well as the 511th Parachute Infantry. He was a member of the Order of the Purple Hearts and the American Legion of Lubec. He owned Hills Drug Store from 1963 until 1974 and then worked for 26 years in pharmacy for Waldo County General Hospital until his retirement. Frank continued to work in pharmacy retail until just after his 81st birthday when he retired because he didn’t want to attend any more classes for continuing education. He is predeceased by two sons, Joel Clark and Frank Clark Jr.; a grandson, Barry; a brother George and a sister Annie. Frank is survived by his wife of 63 years, Joan Clark of Belfast; his children, Steven Clark and his wife Cheryl of Stockton Springs, Patricia Blake and her husband John of Troy; his sister, Joan Thompson of Kennebunkport; seven grandchildren, Frank Clark III, Phillip Clark, Crystal Wenzel, Andrew Blake, Zachary Blake, Steven Clark II, Shalise Forti; four great-grandchildren. At Frank’s request, private graveside services will be held in Lubec for the family. Friends are asked to make donations in Frank’s memory to either Hospice Volunteers of Waldo County, PO Box 772, Belfast, ME 04915 or the Regional Medical Center, 43 South Lubec Road Lubec, ME 04652-3620 Lubec, Maine.
