Obituary of Winfield Turner

WINFIELD TURNER, 66, long-time resident of Unity, devoted husband, beloved father and grandfather, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Friday, June 3rd. Born June 28th the son of Maurice and Lizzie Ann (Chasse) Turner. Winnie was married to his loving wife Peggy Ann (Wingate) in Palermo on December 14, 1963. Some of his favorite enjoyments were stockcar racing, snowmobiling, hunting, watching the birds, his antique shop and his Uncle Henry every Thursday. He spent many hard working years at the railroad, Jim’s Salad Co., cutting wood and construction. Surviving is his wife Peggy of Unity and their five children, Cindy Jones and her husband Dennis of Unity, Clayton Turner and his wife Dustin of Burnham, Ronnie Turner and his companion Danielle Creasy of Unity, Dawna Duclos and her husband Larry of Thorndike, and Libby Moulton and her husband Alan of Unity; eleven grandchildren, Keith Jones and his wife Jenny, Casey Jones, Chad and Kaiser Turner, Bailie Nason, Ashley, Mehgan and Haleigh Duclos, Lexi and Reese Moulton; one great-grandson, Brody and special dog Myah; his nephew Donnie Turner and his wife Karen of Unity who was loved like a son; a very dear friend Darby Ludden and wife Kathy of Unity; six brothers, Elwin Turner and wife Faylene of Freedom, Richard Turner and wife Carolyn, Lester Turner and wife Sharon, all of Montville; David Turner and wife Caroline of Palermo, Willis and wife Wanda of Augusta, Eddie Turner and wife Bea of Liberty; four sisters, Geneva Peavey of Belmont, Shirley Peavey of Montville, Sharon Leeman and husband Norman, Peggy Cowing and husband Paul, all of Palermo; an aunt, uncle and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by four sisters-in-law, Diane Turner of Weeks Mills, Joyce (Turner) Creasey of Albion, Carleen Berthiaume of Zephyrhills, Florida and Diane Corey and husband Tim of Killeen, Texas. He was predeceased by his parents; two brothers, Meldon Turner of Freedom and Raoul Turner of Weeks Mills and one sister, Regina “Jeannie” Harriman of Montville. The family would like to thank the staff on the 2nd floor and all the special people at Dialysis Unit and Dr. Opolinsky at Thayer Hospital as well as family physician Dr. Charles Kriegel. A very special thank you goes out to Lisa for taking him out for that “last date” to the roof top and keeping a smile on his face. Papa, you will be sadly missed by all. Memorial gathering will be held 5-6 p.m. Tuesday, June 7th with a service at 6 p.m. at Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast.
