Obituary of Chester Leigh Buck

WINDHAM -- Chester 'Leigh' Buck, beloved husband of Betty MacDonald Buck, died at his home in Windham on Aug. 2, 2011. He was born in Dexter to Chester Buck and Minnie Biggar Buck on March 21, 1941. He graduated from Maine Central Institute and went on to serve in the U.S. Air Force. He retired as a chef and restauranteur in 2006 and pursued his love of writing, publishing his 'Last Hurrah' in 2009. God blessed him with many talents to include a beautiful singing voice and ability to play the guitar, banjo and harmonica. He enjoyed traveling on his 'Goldwing' and made many long distance trips to include Maine to California, Tennessee, Georgia and Gettysburg. He is survived by his sister, Joyce Nash of Bonita Springs, Fla.; son Clinton Buck, daughter Mechelle Conway of Oklahoma; his step-children, Steven, Scott and Buddy and his wife Stephanie Minott of Windham; grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A special thank you goes out to his grandson James Minott and Hospice of Southern Maine who made it possible for him to fulfill his wish to remain at home with his dogs Minnie, Molly and Walfy. A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, Aug. 7, at 12 p.m., at the Windham Veterans Center; followed by a reception.
