Obituary of Nahdia Lorden

Nahdia began her journey on September 12, 1936. She was the only child of Harris and Donna (Martin) Easterbrooks of Ocean Park, ME. Her mother was the postmistress and her father was an entrepreneur at “The Beach”. Nahdia’s parent’s occupations provided her with much fodder for the often funny and sometimes astonishing stories that Nahdia was so good at telling. After the original carousel burned at Old Orchard, it was little Nahdia who named the horses on the new one. Real horses were also her passion, so Nahdia taught her granddaughters horseback riding. Having been a top student at Old Orchard Beach, she continued her academic career at Gorham State Teacher’s College. Nahdia was a gifted teacher, mentor and role model for 36 years. But first and foremost, she was a loving mother. Moving to Newfield, Maine in 1987, Nahdia found time to tap into her natural talent and creativity through the medium of watercolors and became a gifted painter. She entered many shows and was a member of several art associations. Nahdia’s journey ended just days before her 75th birthday. She was a graceful, charming and witty woman who leaves a void in the lives of all who knew her. Nahdia is survived by her son, Eric Lorden of Gloucester, MA, three granddaughters, Haley, Hannah, and Karlee and her life partner, Frank Manduca of Newfield. A celebration of her life will take place at The First Parish Unitarian Universalist Church, 114 Main St. Kennebunk, on Saturday September 24, at 11AM. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to: Sanford Springvale Art Assoc. PO 388 Sanford Me 04073 501(C)3 On-line condolences may be offered at www.directcremationofmaine.com.
