Obituary of Calvin Robertson

Calvin "Tom" Robertson Jr., 64, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2012, surrounded by his family and the thoughts of his dear friends. Tom was born April 9, 1947, in Bangor. He spent the majority of his life in the first response community as a full time member of the Air National Guard, as a Bangor firefighter, as the city of Bangor fire inspector, then as the director of Penobscot County Emergency Management. Tom will be fondly remembered for his cynical, yet humorous outlook on life and his ability to share it with everyone and anyone who would listen. Also, for his never-ending quest for the perfect automobile; it was suspected that he worked undercover for Car and Driver magazine. Tom is survived by the love of his life, Margaret and their daughter, Kelly, of Bangor; his son, Kyle of Brewer; his brother, Timothy and his wife, Kathy, of Bangor; and his special companion, Abbey. Tom was predeceased by his mother and stepfather, Arlene and Harold Oldheime; and father, Calvin T. Robertson Sr. The family appreciated the memories shared by friends during the last several weeks. The family thanks all the wonderful caregivers throughout the past three months who have touched Tom and the family with their care and compassion. At Tom's request, there will be no services. A private celebration of life, by family, will be held at a later date. For those who wish, please send donations in Tom's memory to CancerCare of Maine, 33 Whiting Hill Road, Suite 21, Brewer, ME 04412.
