Obituary of Judith Bremner Ham

JUDITH Z (BREMNER) HAM, 79 of Northport, died January 12, 2012 at home surrounded by her family after a short battle with cancer. Born in New Britain CT on April 30, 1932, Judy was the daughter of Catherine (Sanders) and Frank Zwick, M.D. She graduated from New Britain High School in 1949 and attended the University of Vermont, class of 1953. After years of summering in Maine as a child and as an adult, Judy moved to Northport in 1969, working as a teacher and office manager to an orthopedic surgeon. In 1987 she became affiliated with the Riverview School in East Sandwich, MA as a housemother and substitute teacher to special needs students. She returned to her home in Maine in 1992 where she married F. Allison Ham. They traveled throughout the USA and Canada in their motor home for fifteen years. Judy’s greatest joy was caring for animals, especially those of the canine variety. Judy is predeceased by her parents and two sisters. She is survived by her husband, F. Allison Ham; a brother, Frank Zwick Jr. of Myrtle Beach, SC; a sister, Catherine Z. Keefe of Massachusetts, three children, Judith E. “Jeb” Bremner of Northport, William F. “Butch” Bremner and his wife Susan of Starr, SC and Robert W. “Bob” Bremner and his wife Robin of Wesley Chapel, FL; three grandchildren, Jonathan, Arielle and Audra Arellano and three great-grandchildren, all of Colorado. At Judy’s request there will be no funeral service. A private burial is being planned for a later date in Connecticut. Contributions may be made to the Town Line Animal Shelter, 46 Baker Road, Belfast, ME 04915 or an animal rescue league of your choosing.
