Obituary of Ronald L. Ashey

SEARSPORT RONALD L. ASHEY, 66 of Searsport, passed away June 28th at Harbor Hill. He was born in Bangor on June 24, 1946 to Desmond and Clara (Morse) Ashey. He was a US Navy Vietnam War veteran and member of the American Legion. He enjoyed being a school bus driver for the Town of Searsport. He worked at Champion and did commercial painting. Ronald was a self-taught man and jack of all trades who could fix anything. He was a mechanic, had a small engine repair business and did some landscaping. He loved helping his neighbors, especially plowing for them. He was predeceased by both parents; a brother Richard and brother-in-law Richard; two nephews, Steven and Gary. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Carolyn “Carol” A. Ashey of Searsport; his sister-in-law, Barbara Ashey of Bucksport; his children Renee L. Mehuren and husband Jerry of Searsport, Keith Ashey and significant other Colleen of Searsport; her siblings, Brianne, Brooke, and Aaron; Craig Ashey of Prospect; his siblings, Eleane Street and husband Fred of Milford, Terry Ashey and wife Gloria of Verona Island, Leland Ashey and wife Linda of Searsport, Michael Ashey and wife Donna of Belfast; five grandchildren, Kristine and Kelsey Mehuren, Gabriel Ashey, Cameron and Caleb Ashey; many special nieces, nephews and cousins as well as special friends in Maine and in Florida. Memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, July 21st at Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast with Rev. Ken Davenport officiating. Grave side service will be held at Elmwood Cemetery, Route 1 Searsport, ME following Memorial Service. Celebration of life will be held at the Searsport Lions Club, Back Searsport Road, Searsport, Maine following graveside service. Donations may be offered in lieu of flowers in Ronald’s memory to the DAV, PO Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45290-0301 or to the American Lung Association, 1301 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Suite 800, Washington, DC 20004. .
