Obituary of Richard Richie Carr

RICHARD E. “RICHIE” CARR, of Palermo, passed away surrounded by his loving family and friends at Togus VA Medical Center, Augusta, on Tuesday, August 28, 2012. Richie was the son of the late Robert Carr and the late Helen J. (Drew) Kaufman. Born June 15, 1941 in Easton, Massachusetts, he was raised in Rockland, Massachusetts. He attended Rockland High School before joining the US Marine Corps where he proudly served with G. Co. 2nd Battalion 5th Marines until his honorable discharge in 1961. He moved to Maine in 1986 where he pursued his favorite pastimes of hunting, ice fishing, hiking, riding his bicycle and traveling the countryside with his devoted canine friend, Gershwin. In recent years he spent time communicating with his many on-line friends who knew him as Dragonfly. He was a member of American Legion Post #163 of Palermo. He was also a 32nd degree Mason. He was predeceased by his sister, Jerillyan Yannone of Halifax, Massachusetts. Richard leaves behind his loving wife, Peggy McBrien; his three beautiful daughters, Rachel Kulick and her husband Tim of Aurora, Colorado, Alicia Power and her husband Mitch Heber City, Utah, Sarah Austin and her husband Jason of Farmingdale, Maine and their mother, Priscilla (Ahearn) Carr; Peggy’s children, Joshua Grant, Holly Grant and her partner Zak Shorty, James Glendenning and his girlfriend Nikol Duguay; twelve grandchildren, Will, Andrew and Clara Kulick, Gavin and Maeve Power, and Owen and Eben Austin, Sierra and Sydney Grant, Zachary, Drake and Nathan; his sisters, Betsy Fitzpatrick and her husband Tom of Naples, Florida, Barbara Ingalls and her husband Norm of Plympton, Massachusetts, and Judith Carr and her partner Joe Drew of Halifax, Massachusetts as well as many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to his loving family, he leaves his devoted friends, Randy and Diane Stadelbauer of Palermo, Dick and Gloria Werth of Taylor, Michigan.
