Obituary of Denys Lee Robbins

Denys “Denny” Lee Robbins, born in Franklin Maine on December 7, 1938 to Bill and Dorothy Robbins lost his battle to cancer on Sept 1st at 3:03 pm at the Waldo County General Hospital with his loved ones by his side. Denys resided in Belfast with the love of his life and longtime sweetheart, Erroldean Andrews. Together they shared their lives and their home with Erroldean’s grandson Nathan Grivois and his two year old son Wyatt who Denys lovingly referred to as his great grandson. Erroldean’s daughter, Terri Grivois, her husband Scott and their daughter Dayna Sue all from Madison loved to come to visit and spend time with Denys and the family at their home in Belfast where they enjoyed family cookouts, playing with Wyatt and watching the wildlife in the back yard. Denys was survived by his daughters, Debra Palmer, husband Lysander “Sandy” of Freedom and Roberta Robbins and her life partner Troy Whittemore of Norridgewock, his granddaughter, Moxi Palmer of Montville, step grandsons Aaron Bouchard and Ryan O’Neil of Norridgewock, two step children Spencer Fortin of Norridgewock & Seana Bouchard of Winslow, Denny’s sisters, Sandra Harris of Corinna and Eleanor Whitmore of Hancock; many nieces and nephews. In addition to spending time with his family Denny spent many hours hunting and fishing with his best friends, Arthur Fuller of Montville and Kenny Ketchum of Skowhegan. Denys was quite a sharp shooter back in the day and was often known to take champion in some of the local shooting competitions. Though Denys spent many years of his life working in the shoe shop, he also was a carpenter by trade and enjoyed making just about anything you could dream up. In his spare time he crafted lots of the family’s cherished furnishings and other items around the home. Denys also loved to garden and had quite the green thumb. He would spend hours in the garden, later complaining, ‘oh my aching back’, just to turn around and give away a lot of the harvest to whoever would ask. He was such a giving, caring soul who will be forever missed. His granddaughter Moxi said, “Life from here on out Papa, will never be the same, but in my heart my love for you will live on forever.” His daughters state he was ALWAYS willing to carry the heavy end of the stick, and his life partner said, “Denys my love, to the world you were one person but to me, YOU WERE THE WORLD.” Per Denny’s request, the family will be hosting a celebration of his life on Saturday, September 8th at 2:00 pm, at the Palmer homestead, 113 Smithton Road, Freedom where Denys once lived. The family will use the donations received to purchase a stone bench in memory of Denys and place it in one of his favorite places where he spent many hours with his loving family and nature as he loved it.
