Obituary of Rodney David Blais

RODNEY DAVID BLAIS, 59 of 19 Candlewyck Road, Windham, died peacefully at his home on September 9, 2012 after a long illness. Rodney was a native of Portland, attended Portland schools and enlisted in the Army immediately after high school. He was a former employee of Lucas Tree, then went on to become a glazier at Portland Glass until an industrial accident in 1984. He then was free to pursue a life-long dream of woodworking. He attended and excelled at the North Bennett St. School in Boston, Massachusetts and then retired to his lake home and cherished woodworking shop where he spent countless hours. Rodney is known for his limitless, natural, artistic talent and leaves behind many cherished heirlooms. The only thing he enjoyed more than working in his shop (and watching movies) was spending time outdoors with his beloved grandchildren. He will be lovingly remembered and is survived by his mother, Valerie Gordon; brothers and sisters, Stephen Blais, Joanne Rich, Catherine Dyer and James Brasseau; his son and daughter-in-law, Shannon and Della Blais; daughter Candise Blais. He has seven grandchildren, Audrey, Addie, Luke, Libby, Natalie and Jake Blais, Emily Orne; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Henry C. Blais. At Rodney's request, there will be no funeral service. Relatives and friends are invited to a gathering at his home from 2-5 Saturday, September 15, 2012.
