Obituary of Linda Brier Hall

LINDA JUDITH (CROSS, BRIER) HALL, 69, passed away at her home on October 24, 2012. Beloved wife, mother, sister and aunt, she was born August 11, 1943, the youngest of five daughters, to Chester and E. Geneva (Tower) Cross. “Mrs. Brier” taught second grade at the Governor Anderson School in Belfast for 37 of her 39 years teaching. She was an active member of many professional groups, committees and organizations. She dedicated herself to serving in leadership roles as head teacher, president of the local teachers association, president of the Epsilon Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society and president of the Waldo County Retired Teachers Association. Linda was known for her wonderful singing voice. She started singing at a young age in the local grange and continued on to the Crosby Review, Machias State Teachers’ College choir, church choir, Robert Coller Chorale, weddings and other venues. People often requested to hear her beautiful voice! Linda loved all seasons, in particular the summer season when she could enjoy her pool, the beach, sailing, gardening and spending special time with friends and family. During her retirement, she enjoyed traveling with her husband to warm locations and visits to their grandchildren. Linda’s energy and positivity influenced many people and taught us all how to live life. She is predeceased by her parents, mother and father-in-law Velma and Kip Hall; sister Kathleen Bachelder, nephews David Bachelder and Richard Trull Jr., brothers-in-law Raymond Bachelder, Richard Trull, Sr. and John W. Keene. Survivors include her husband Duane C. Hall; daughter and son-in-law Marci and Paul Zaniboni; step-daughter and son-in-law Kristin and Ron Alexander, step-son Derek Hall, step-daughter Megan Hall; grandchildren Harrison and Jackson Alexander; sisters Regina M. Trull, Maxine M. Cross and Marilyn C. Keene; nieces Dawn, Pamela, Katherine, Julie, Janet, Jill and Alicia; nephews Dana, Jeffrey and Jonathan; extended family Alice Brier, Jane and Gary Scott, Ralph, Jan, Judd and Tess Brier, Wayne and Loraine Hamilton, Dennis and Debbie Hall. A celebration of Linda’s life will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2012, 10 a.m., First Church, 8 Court Street, Belfast. A reception at the Boat House in Belfast will immediately follow.
