Obituary of Ileen Beverly

Dorothy Ileen Beverly Ileen Beverly went home to be with her Lord and Savior on November 4, 2012, at Maine Medical Center, in Portland, Maine. She was born on August 16, 1936; a daughter to the late Hugh and Grace Springstead. Ileen was a loving wife of John Douglas Beverly for 55 years; a mother to Yvonne Grace Blake and her husband Randall, Phillip Chase Beverly and his wife Donna, and Jonathan Hugh Beverly and his wife Tracy; a grandmother to Grace Godwin and her husband Matthew, Caleb Blake and his wife Kimberly, Benjamin Blake and his wife Jessi, Anna Raymond and her husband Christopher, Stephen Blake and his wife Lauren, Lydia Webber and her husband Donald, Micah Blake and his wife Grace, Abel Blake, and Landis Beverly; a great-grandmother to Carter and Mika Raymond, Gabriel and Alana Blake, Evelyn and Eliot Webber, Malcolm Blake, and also 2 more yet to be born. She was also an older sister to Vern Springstead, and Alan Springstead. Ileen was predeceased by her son Douglas Michael Beverly and her brother Terry Springstead. She loved and cared for many others - foster children, young teen girls, and those whom God brought into her life and home. She loved and prayed for each one, as if they were family. Ileen touched lives wherever she lived. Anyone who knew her was blessed by her optimism and enthusiasm. At the age of 13, Ileen's life turned from darkness into light when she found the Savior at a summer church camp. She carried her Bible to school every day and demonstrated her new-found faith with her joyful way of life. She had a gift of being able to talk to strangers and used it to tell them about the Lord. Ileen earned her RN degree from Sparks School of Nursing in Fort Smith, AR. Over the years she worked as a nurse in Trenton, NJ; Johnson City, NY; Phoenix, AZ; Troy, NY; Ellsworth, ME, and Bucksport, ME. Ileen earned a midwifery certificate in Nassau, Bahamas, in 1966 and managed a clinic alone on Cat Island. She also was the regional health education instructor for the Bucksport Regional Health Clinic. She served the Lord as a pastor's wife in Canaan, Maine, besides teaching many Bible Clubs, Ladies' Bibles studies, Sunday School classes, and counseling those whom God brought her way. She loved playing games, gardening, sewing, quilting, reading, drawing, plus making cards and gifts for the many people in her life. She also wrote and prayed for missionaries around the world. Most of all, Ileen loved her Savior, Jesus Christ, and she demonstrated His love to everyone she met. "It will be worth it all when we see Jesus. Life's trials will seem so small when we see Christ. One glimpse of His dear face all sorrows will erase. So bravely run the race, till we see Christ." (written by Esther Kerr Rusthoi) A memorial service will be held on November 16, 2012, at 10 AM, at the Lighthouse Bible Church at 86 Prospect St., Searsport, Maine. Donations can be given to Gary's House on 97 State St., Portland, Maine - a ministry to those whose loved ones are in the hospital.
