Obituary of Jane Flory

FLORY, JANE L., age 84, of Belfast and Warwick, Rhode Island, died peacefully at her Belfast home Nov. 8, 2012. She was born in Suffern, N.Y. March 8, 1928, the daughter of the late Pelham and Helen Livsey. A graduate of Middlebury College, she held an M.Ed. from Rhode Island College. Jane was a beloved teacher of English for 20 years at Hope High School in Providence, RI, and was also the drama coach there. Jane was a long time parishioner of St. Margaret’s Church in Belfast and Trinity Church in Warwick. She was married to the late Rev. Sheldon Flory, rector of St. Margaret’s in the 1960’s. Jane will be fondly remembered for her generous nature, wit and intellect. She touched the lives of her many friends, students and family. She loved her summers in her cottage on Lake St. George in Liberty, ME. She is survived by three children: Christopher Flory, Susan Flory, Sarah Flory-Nelson, son-in-law Robert Nelson, and five grandchildren: Lee Flory, Hanna and Jack Graham, and Philip and Timothy Davey. Memorial services will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her name may be made to Liberty Fire and Rescue, Liberty, ME.
