Obituary of Jannine A. Cash

JANNINE A. (HILL) CASH, 73 of Rockland, passed away on December 28, 2012 at her home. She was born on October 2, 1939 in Rockland, Maine, the daughter of Freeland D. and Jean (Griffin) Hill. Jannine was a loving mother of six children, eleven grand-children and 4 great-grand children. She was an avid gardener and dedicated Bridge player and directed a local bridge group for over 35 years in the Rockland area. She taught Bridge for many years and was also a mentor for troubled youth through the Restorative Justice Project. Jannine loved the ocean, and spending time there reminded her of the awe and beauty of the world around her. She had a passion for reading and exploring new places and loved quiet Sunday’s with the paper and the crossword puzzle. She also loved beauty and created it in her gardens and space around her and enjoyed sharing it with her loved ones. Jannine loved traveling throughout the US and the world with her friends and family, but Maine was the place that she always called home. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband Richard Cash; and oldest daughter Crystal Whitney. Jannine is survived by her partner, Pinny Beebe-Center of Rockland; her children, Richard Cash Jr. of Warren, Jeffrey Cash and wife Cheryl of Owls Head, Stephanie Peaslee and husband Greg of Greene, Sean Cash and wife Liz Yori of Brooks, Michelle Jura and husband Erik of Cushing; her siblings Dennis Hill, Joyce Barbour, Alicia Hallowell, Holly Coombs, Freeland Hill Jr.; her grandchildren, Raymond, Crystal, Richard III, Jeffrey, Michael, Benjamin, Andrew, Laura, Christian, Aaron, and Shane; great-grandchildren, Audrey, Colby, Jett and Jude; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Jannine’s family would like to thank all of her bridge friends, her neighbors, the members of her church, Kno-Wal-Lin Hospice, Dr.Mandel, Betsy and Jackie for all of their help and love. The family would also like to give a very special thanks to Anne Cogger, Gretchen Crawford and Dr. Mary Ashmore for their continual support, care and comforting of Jannine through her last moments of life. There will be a celebration of her life January 26th at 2pm at the FirstUniversalistChurch in Rockland with a reception to follow.
