Obituary of Norman F. Stanley

NORMAN F. STANLEY JR., 68 of Searsport, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on April 24, 2013 at his residence. He was born on June 13, 1944 in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, the son of Norman and Catherine (Lombard) Stanley. Norman was a U.S. Navy veteran from 1963 to 1967 and the Air National Guard from 1988 to 2000. He retired from the military and began work as a State firefighter at Bangor International Airport. He was a dedicated Mason for over 20 years going through all the chairs. Norman spent 25 years of dedicated service to the Searsport Fire and Ambulance Service. He will be remembered as a handyman and someone who could fix just about anything. Some of Norman’s greatest enjoyments were riding his motorcycle and spending time with his sidekick his granddaughter. One of his infamous quotes was “I don’t know, but we’ll see”. He is predeceased by his parents and one sister. Norman is survived by his loving wife of almost 42 years, Donna (Peavey) Stanley of Searsport; children Mark Stanley of Searsport and Heidi Stanley of Waterville; his beloved granddaughter, Brooke Stanley of Waterville; sister Ernestine Frederick of Pennsylvania; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Diane and David Benner of Warren; mother-in-law and father -in-law, George and Juanita Worthing of Liberty; several nieces and nephews, close friends Bob Porter, Paul Drost, and former employer Lloyd Wentworth. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 30th at 5 p.m. at Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast. Spring burial will be held June 14, 2 p.m. at Maine Veterans Cemetery in Augusta.
