Obituary of Arland Hollis Bailey

ARLAND HOLLIS BAILEY was born February 20, 1932 in Weeks Mills, son of Hazel (Crommett) and Irving Bailey, the oldest of 14 children. He went home to be with his newly accepted Lord on August 7, 2013. He attended the little one-room schoolhouse in Weeks Mills. He also attended Erskine Academy for a short time. He was a U.S. Army veteran. As a young man he worked in the woods with a team of horses. He farmed and worked in the woods, was herdsman at the Oakland Farms in Gardiner for years. He drove a bulk milk truck for a few years picking up milk at area dairy farms. He loved horse pulling at fairs, hunting, fishing and camping in Kokajo. He was predeceased by brothers, Philip, Glendon and Joseph; a sister, Barbara; a nephew, Joseph and niece Heidi. He was also predeceased by his wife, Lois and late wife, Virginia. Arland is survived by brothers, Paul, Norman and James; sisters Pauline, Madeline, Beverly, Carolyn, Nancy and Diane; children, Roxanne, Suzanne, Tanya, Pamela, Lauri, Jeffrey, Bonnie, Jennifer; step-children, Mark, Gregory, Katrina and Russell; 17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two ex-wives, Rowena and Marilou; cousins aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews and many people he considered family. Services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at Palermo Christian Church, 322 Branch Mills Road, Palermo. Burial with military honors will follow at 12 noon at Maine Veterans Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Road, Augusta. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Angelman Syndrome Foundation, 4255 Westbrook Drive, Suite 219, Aurora, IL 60504.
