Obituary of Georgia Elnora Rines

GEORGIA ELNORA RINES, 90, passed away peacefully with her daughters by her side on August 24, 2013 at a local health care facility. Georgia was born in Belmont, Maine to Charles and Nellie Place on November 5, 1922. Georgia was a wonderful, dedicated mother who loved family above all else. She was a Girl Scout leader, Sunday School teacher, accomplished seamstress and also an adventurous person who loved the outdoors and new challenges. She was an avid deer hunter in her younger years, even earning membership to the Big Buck Club. She won trophies for racing stock cars at Unity Speedway. She and her husband, Vinal, spent many happy winter days snowmobiling their favorite trails at Unity Plantation. In her later years, she added a canoeing trip with friends down the Allagash Wilderness Waterway. Georgia was a stay-at-home mom until her children were grown and then worked at Unity College retiring after twenty years of service. Georgia was loved deeply by all her family and will be sadly missed. Georgia was predeceased by her husband, Vinal, brothers Vernon and Avon Place and grandson Christopher Ingraham. She is survived by her sister, Beatrice Thompson, brothers Royce Place and Malcolm Place and wife Priscilla of Morrill, daughters Jackie Ingraham and husband Michael of Knox, Linda Berry and husband David of Winterport, grandchildren, Wendy Lambeth and husband Rob, Angie Ingraham, Shannon Flewelling and husband Ron, Torrey Weaver and Brooke Powers and husband Matt; great grandchildren Summer Flewelling, Lydia, Logan and Landon Powers, Elliot Ingraham and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to call from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, August 27th at Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 28th at Pond Cemetery in Unity. Those who wish may make donations in Georgia’s memory to the Chris Ingraham Scholarship Fund, 425 Belfast Road, Knox, ME 04986.
