Obituary of Jeremiah E. Sullivan

JEREMIAH E. SULLIVAN, JR., 88, passed away on January 25, 2014 peacefully at his home in Troy surrounded by his loving family. We lost a husband, father, grandfather and best friend. He was always very proud of his Irish heritage. His wife, sister and two sons had the privilege of taking him to Long Island, New York a few years ago to visit the house built by his family after their arrival in the United States from Ireland. Jerry was always a very hard worker, loving husband, father and grandfather. He graduated from Morse Memorial High School, Class of 1943, and was a member of the American Legion. Jerry received honorable discharge after serving his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. During WWII he served on the ships, The Battle Wagon, The Hornet and Aircraft Carrier Indiana. He was predeceased by a daughter, Brenda “Cricket”, a son Richard as well as two brothers and one sister. Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Lorraine Sullivan; his sons, Jeremiah E. Sullivan III and wife Elizabeth of Thorndike, Ralph N. Sullivan and wife Colleen of Thorndike; his sisters, Virginia Work of Jackson, Marion Paradis of Latuque, Quebec, Canada and Patricia Howard of Orono; sister in law Sandra Hughes and husband Bernard of Bower Bank and Bristol, Connecticut; his grandchildren, Jeremiah E. Sullivan IV and wife Emma of Holden, Jared E. Sullivan of Troy, Merri-Ella Greenberg and husband Charles of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Carla Ellis and husband Clayton of Brooks, Corinna Boisvert and husband Ross of Hooksett, New Hampshire, Tracy Mullingan and husband Brad of Thorndike, Travis Sullivan and wife Adrianne of Troy, Randy Sullivan and wife Christina of Knox; great-grandchildren, Brett and Garrett Mullingan, Jazzmin Sullivan, Sidney, Micaela and Isaac Ellis, Hannah and Will Boisvert; several nieces, nephews and cousins; special friends, Darol Ricker of Jackson, Gerald and Becky Gould of Corinna and Alvin Winslow of Waldo; special neighbors, Buster and Carol Shibles and Kevin and Melissa Nealley. Private family graveside services will be held in the spring.
