Obituary of Frederick Carter

MORRILL Frederick H. Carter Jr. (or formally, Bumpa) of Morrill, died unexpectedly on June 7, 2014. He was born on January 25, 1949 at the Sister’s Hospital in Waterville, Maine. He lived in Belfast for 44 years. He graduated from Belfast Area High School in 1967. He attended Glen Cove Bible School from 1967-1970. He married his wife Rebecca in 1971. He worked many different jobs but was employed by the Department of Transportation from 1973-2014. He ran Roy’s Taxi and Sarahlib Wrecker Service. He was very active in the Masons and was raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason on October 20, 1982. He joined the Scottish Rites on February 2, 1991. He was Master of Excelsior of Lodge #151 of Northport from 2006-2007. Fred enjoyed selling and buying at flea markets, even if he lost money. He loved cars, both old and new. He enjoyed traveling around the United States. He went to Texas, Louisiana, California (he loved the Redwoods), Florida, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Branson, Missouri; New York and Hawai’i. He was predeceased by his parents, Frederick Sr. and Elizabeth Carter; his in-laws, Charles Sr. and Geraldine Pierpont; his brother, Jack Carter; his brother-in-law, Royal Pierpont; his favorite cousin, Kathleen Shustek; his grandson, Tyler Paige. Fred is survived by his wife, Rebecca Carter; his dog, Sandy; his daughter, Sarah and her husband, Howard Thompson; their children April and Josh Symons; great grandchildren Landon and Layla, Christina Thompson and Howard Joshua Thompson Euceda; his daughter, Olivia “ Libby” and her husband Michael Paige; their children, Hannah, Sean, Derek, and Riley; a special aunt, Norma Bowden; a sister, Vanessa Field and her partner, Paula Linscott; a brother, Charles Pierpont Jr, and his wife, Lena as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews. He also had many lifelong friends. Services will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Smile Train, P.O. Box 96231, Washington, D.C., 20090-6231. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.ripostafh.com. Arrangements are under the care of Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast, ME. A funeral service along with his daughter Sarah E. Thompson will be held 11 am Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Morrill Baptist Church in Morrill followed by interment at Morrill Village Cemetery. A reception will be held at the church following the committal prayers.
