Obituary of Barbara L. Holmes

Barbara L. (Pennell) Holmes, 69, of Whitneyville, Maine passed away on December 11, 2014 at Marshall Healthcare Center in Machias, Maine with her family by her side. She was the daughter of the late Blanche and Austin Pennell. She was born November 19. 1945 in Whitneyville. She graduated from Milford N. H. High School and worked at the Whitehouse Restaurant in Jonesboro, Maine as a cook. She will always be remembered for her incredible cooking talent, especially her biscuits. She loved the outdoors as well as bluegrass and country music, which she would always be heard singing. She was predeceased by two brothers , Clifford and Philip Pennell. She is survived by one brother, Nathan Pennell, and two sisters, Betty Reeves and Linda Bilodeau. Her two children, Lawrinda (Holmes) Butler and family of Greenville, N. H. and William Holmes and family of Dublin, N. H. She has four grandchildren, Chris and Jessica Butler and Samantha and Sarah Holmes, as well as many nieces and nephews. A graveside service in Jacksonville, Maine, will be held in the Spring. Donations in her memory may be sent to the Whitneyville Library Fund, 51 School Street, Whitneyville, Maine 04654.
