Obituary of Robert Stokinger

PORTLAND - Robert Elmer Stokinger died on Jan. 3, 2015, at Maine Medical Center. He was born on Jan. 4, 1925, in Boston, Mass., the son of the late Frederick John Stokinger Sr. and Catherine V. (Ladd) Stokinger. He was predeceased by his parents; brothers Frederick Jr. and William M.; and daughter Nancy C. Buzzell. He leaves a wife Gladys (Foster) Stokinger of 68 years; and a sister Barbara E. Tatro of Fort Myers, Fla. He is survived by sons Robert Foster Stokinger and his wife Mary Duffy of Salviac, France; John Ladd Stokinger and his wife Diane E. Stokinger of Kreamer, Pa.; and Peter Allard Stokinger and his wife Kristie Stokinger of Wasilla, Ark. He has seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Before his retirement he was employed by Maine Surgical Supply Company. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Woodfords Congregational Church in Portland, Hiram Lodge AF & AM of South Portland, BPOE #188 of Portland, and the American Legion Post #0017 of Portland. At his request there will be no services. Interment will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester, Mass.
