Obituary of Kimberly Cook

Kimberly Ann (Smith) Cook, 52, of Jefferson, Maine departed this world unexpectedly on January 5, 2015. Kim, as she preferred to be called, was born on August 20, 1962 in Augusta, Maine to Richard L. Smith and Beverly (Freeman) Smith. Kim attended schools in Augusta and Oakland, ultimately graduating from Cony High School in 1980. Kim worked for the State of Maine in various departments for over 20 years before retiring. Since retiring, Kim spent her time at home with her family and enjoyed gardening. Kim had the biggest heart in the world. She would do anything to help out a family member, friend or even a stranger. She was a very spunky lady who always had a smile and/or a good joke that would surely provoke a laugh. She had the very uncanny knack of making strangers feel as if they had known her for years and she would make them feel right at home. Above all else, Kim loved her family most of all. Kim leaves behind her husband, George I. Cook, Jr. and daughter, Hailey Morgan Cook of Jefferson and her eldest daughter, Meagan Colby Rogers and her grandson, Jacob M. Rogers, Jr of Whitefield. Kim is survived by her sister, Marsha Smith Heath and her husband, Mark, and their children, Jessica Heath and Samuel Heath, and her brother, Scott Smith. She is also survived by her aunt, Betty Smith, of Sidney and many cousins. She was predeceased by her parent, Richard in 1978 and Beverly in 1998. Kim’s untimely passing leaves a vast empty hole in her family that only time can heal. A graveside service and celebration of life is to be held in the Spring. Arrangements are under the care of Direct Cremation of Maine, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast.
