Obituary of Carolyn N. Collins

CAROLYN N. (HART) COLLINS, 89 of Liberty, passed away on April 13, 2015 at her residence. She was born May 6, 1925 in Appleton, Maine, the daughter of Frank and Sheila (Miller) Hart Sr. Carolyn met her husband of 65 years in high school, and they married in 1944 and had three children. She worked as a bank teller at Merrill Trust in Belfast, the phone company, WCAP and retired from the food stamp program at the State of Maine. After just six months of retirement, she went back to work two days per week at Housing for the Elderly and Disabled. The last two years of her husband’s life, she stayed home to care for him as he was in declining health. Time spent with family was one of her greatest enjoyments. Carolyn was an active member of Liberty Baptist Church involved in various committees as well as Bible study and Sunday School. She also served as treasurer for the Town of Montville. She was an avid New England sports fan. She is predeceased by her parents and her husband, Howard O. “Whiskey” Collins Jr. in 2009. Carolyn is survived by her loving children, Randall Collins and wife Patricia of Ellington, CT, Anita Pease and husband Alvin of South Montville, Corene Richards and husband Carroll of Vassalboro; siblings Esther Mathieson of Montville and Frank Hart Jr and wife Muriel of Belfast; her grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jennifer, John, Jason, Joanne, Wanda; great-grandchildren, Theodore, Natalia, Alexander, Caleb, Curtis, Tristan, Shyla, Lauren, Kevin, Aaron and Sam. Visiting hours will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday April 17th at Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 18th at Liberty Baptist Church with Pastor Steve Daniels officiating.
