Obituary of Joyce Lynn Manson

BOOTHBAY HARBOR – Joyce Lynn Manson, 64, passed away after a long illness on May 7, 2015. She was born in Boothbay Harbor on April 5, 1951, daughter of Ira and Barbara Lewis. She attended local schools, becoming the Business Manager for the Boothbay Region Superintendent of School District for many years. Joyce was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and cousin. She had many close friends who all enjoyed her sense of humor. The only thing bigger than Joyce’s beautiful smile was her heart. Joyce enjoyed cooking for her family and friends at holidays and other special occasions, betting on the horse races at the local summer fairs and going to Old Town Bingo. She will be sorely missed by so many. Joyce is predeceased by her parents and her brother, John Lewis. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Gary L. Manson, Sr., daughter Nicci Doray and like a son Rodney Doray Jr. of Boothbay Harbor, two step-daughters: Diana Holmes and husband Jimmy of Boothbay Harbor, Lynne Smith and husband Roger of Brunswick, and one step-son, Gary Manson, Jr. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren: Cassie Doray, Jimmy Holmes, Jr., and Heather and David Manson of Boothbay Harbor; Valerie, Ashley and Brandon Smith of Brunswick; and Melissa Holmes- Whitt of Edgecomb; two sisters: Kay Reed and her husband Arnold of Westbrook and Roxanne Hagar of Newcastle; many nieces and nephews; and her beloved dogsTess and Puppy. There will be a gathering at Nicci Doray’s home to celebrate Joyce’s life on Sunday, June 7, 2015 at 11 am. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.directcremationofmaine.com
