Obituary of Philip C. True

Philip C. True Sr., 85, died Monday, June 30, 2015 at the Maine Veterans Home in Augusta. He was born in Gardiner, Maine on March 21, 1930 to Orin and Mildred (Doe) True. He attended Windsor schools and graduated from Erskine Academy in 1949. He met his future wife Earlene (Gaslin) True when they both were students at Erskine. Phil and Earlene were married October 21, 1952 in Augusta. Phil served his country during the Korean War through his service to the Air Force while stationed in Manchester, N.H. He was self-employed as a woodsman for many years and was a truck driver for St. Johnsbury and Associated Grocers. He maintained an active farm at the family homestead in Windsor for many years. Phil was a member of Kennebec Lodge AF & AM and Lily of the Valley #157, Order of the Eastern Star, Weeks Mills. He was actively involved in numerous Masonic organizations throughout his life. He was predeceased by his parents, a sister, Barbara Tabb, and his wife, Earlene. He is survived by his son, Philip C. True, Jr., and his wife Deborah of Augusta, and his grandson, Cory True of Manchester, N.H. He is also survived by a sister, Madeline Tabor of Nevada, and several nieces and nephews. Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family at Dyer Hill Cemetery in Windsor. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Maine Veterans Home, honoring the many years of dedicated care that they provided on his behalf.
