Obituary of John J. Dilworth

JONESBORO - John J. Dilworth, 94, passed in his sleep October 22, 2015 at home. He was born July 23, 1921 to John V. and Bertha C. Dilworth in Manchester, Connecticut. He worked in tobacco fields in Manchester and was a machinist for Hartford Screw Co. He joined the Military Service May 20, 1943 - April 29, 1946 in the Army and Air Force. He was proud to serve his country. John worked for the Post Office in Connecticut, retiring in 1976 as Assistant Postmaster, then moved to Maine where he met and married Charlotte, his wife for almost 30 years. He and Charlotte enjoyed twelve happy years at their camp on Chesuncook Lake. He worked in Real Estate with Paul Iossa in the 80s. John was pre-deceased by a sister Odett Kenneson and the mother of his children Margaret Downing Dilworth. He is survived by his wife and her daughters Benita F. Gaddis and family, Lenita F. Smith and family plus many grand- and great-grandchildren; John's children: Margaret Wilhelm with her husband Ron and five children, Joanna Lanterman, son Jon Dilworth and nephew Bruce Kenneson and family.
