Obituary of Joan Fleming Dutch

JOAN (FLEMING) DUTCH, 80 of Belfast, passed away November 5, 2015 at home. Joan was born in St. Stephens, New Brunswick, Canada on October 2, 1935 to Robert and Madeline (Shane) Fleming. She attended Woodland High School, Class of 1952 and graduated Ricker College in 1953. She worked at Merrill Trust Bank and then at Dutch Chevrolet for many years. Joan was a volunteer of the Waldo County Hospital Aide. She enjoyed being a member of the Belfast Curling Club, the Northport Golf Club, and scored a hole in one at Northport Golf Club and St. Augustine Golf Course. She was a member of Belfast United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir years ago. Joan also played the piano and loved to sing in the Coquina Crossing Choir in Elkton, Florida. Joan was a Girl Scout and Boy Scout leader. Joan’s hobbies included bowling, swimming, sewing, cards and spending time with her family. Pre-deceased by parents Robert and Madeline Fleming. Joan is survived by her husband of 62 years, Bryant Dutch; two sons, Greg Dutch and wife Lois, Tim Dutch and wife Jean; daughter, Bonnie Aldus & husband Jim; foreign exchange son, Christian Shriver of Denmark; Grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Evan Dutch and wife Nicole, their children Rian and Dillon, Ian Dutch and wife Lucy, Nick Hills and wife Megan, their son Dutch, Carly Story and husband Charlie, their sons Charlie & Matthew, Katie Hills and partner Josh Freeman, Abby Farnsworth and husband Ryan; step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren: Jaime Aldus and children Donovan and Johnathan, Brian Aldus and daughter Elena, Jacob Aldus; cousins: Janet and Rich Martin, Debbie and Jim Mann; sister-in-law Norma Dutch; nephew Jeff Dutch and wife Mary; a number of great nieces and nephews and very special friends Janice & Bud Ferry. Special thanks go out to the wonderful and caring staff of Private Home Care A celebration of her life will be held at 11 am on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at Belfast United Methodist Church.
