Obituary of Phyllis Eileen Walker

Phyllis Eileen Walker Phyllis E. Walker died peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, August 25th. Phyllis was born on March 26, 1923, in Augusta, Maine. She was the daughter of Thomas A. Olsen and Thelma Tobey Olsen and was a 1942 graduate of Brunswick High School. Phyllis met her husband, Howard H. Walker, Jr. just out of junior high school. The couple married on September 13, 1942 and they spent an incredible 65 years together. Their family finds great solace knowing the two are once again together. Phyllis worked at the Brunswick Nursery School for service mothers during World War II while Mr. Walker was in Europe serving the Army. When her children were grown, she went to work at the Jordan Acres School and then was the manager at Hawthorne’s School cafeteria for 22 years. When she was not working, Phyllis especially enjoyed traveling, spending time with her family and visiting casinos. Phyllis was predeceased by her husband, Howard, and her granddaughter, Carie Eck. She will be lovingly remembered by all three of her children, Carol Gammon of Brunswick, Scott Walker (Althea) of Brunswick, Shelley Reynolds (Walter) of Brunswick, as well as her nine grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren. A graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 14th at the Riverside Cemetery in Brunswick. A gathering to celebrate Phyllis’s life with be hosted by her family at Pat’s Pizza in Brunswick after the service.
